The Austrian digital Initiative eduvidual.at provides a Moodle-based learning platform for around 1,000 schools and has integrated our video conferencing solution. In the first half year, more than 19,617 sessions were held with a total session duration of over 21,700 hours. At peak times, more than 400 meetings with around 5,000 participants were held daily.
The Centre for Learning Management (ZLM) operates Moodle learning platforms of the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research, including eduvidual.at. In the spring of 2020, the ZLM was looking for a stable and data protection compliant video conferencing solution that could swiftly and easily be integrated into their Moodle-based learning platform eduvidual.at.
BigBlueButton Integration at eduvidual.at
Thanks to Moodle’s easy integration with the video conferencing system BigBlueButton, we were able to provide schools with a quick solution through eduvidual.at. The educational platform eduvidual.at has been adapted by the ZLM using specially developed extensions which provide areas for the whole school as well as each school’s own separate and protected area inside moodle. Despite the extensive individual Multi-Tenancy configurations of the eduvidual.at platform, BigBlueButton was fully functioning within a very short time-period.
Upscaling during COVID 2020
During the COVID pandemic there was a sudden increase in demand which we were able to answer to quickly due to our scalable setup. For the period between spring and autumn 2020, demand increased tenfold, and continued until summer 2021.
During our search for a partner who could complement the Austrian Moodle Education Platform eduvidual.at with a web conferencing system we were convinced by the offer of think modular.
The think modular team distinguished itself by their high competence of implementation further to their flexibility and constant commitment. During the challenging Corona period faced by platform providers, this was an important aspect in offering BigBlueButton to around one thousand Austrian schools within such a short period of time.
We gladly recommend think modular.
