Our scope of work
Implementation and hosting of the customerexpert.at platform
Setup of the self-registration system
Migration of existing content (2,500 questions and 1,800 content sheets) from the old system
The challenge: A structured migration of around 1,800 editorial learning materials and approximately 2,500 quality-assured multiple-choice questions from the previous system.
The content was systematically prepared, reorganized, and thematically structured into Moodle courses – with a particular focus on the needs of brick-and-mortar retail. All test questions were fully transferred, revised, and embedded into standardized knowledge checks. Participants receive automated feedback and personalized certificates upon successful completion.
A self-registration form with an approval process ensures that only qualified target groups have access to the content and exams.
Unlike an open platform, Customer Expert is based on a controlled access system: Users – such as employees from member companies – can register via a self-registration process with approval. This ensures that only relevant and qualified individuals gain access to the materials and assessments.
After successful registration, users gain access to courses relevant to their industry. The learning environment is intuitive, mobile-optimized, and allows for location- and time-independent learning – ideal for everyday professional life in retail.
The learning content is closely aligned with topics from real-world, industry-specific work contexts.
Key themes include sales consulting, product explanations, legal frameworks, safety information, and customer interaction behavior. The courses support the structured development and documentation of subject knowledge – for example, as part of internal training or onboarding of new employees.
Targeted, project-specific functional extensions to Moodle – focusing on scalability, usability, and data protection
During implementation, numerous enhancements and adjustments were made to standard Moodle features:
Customization of the user interface to match the corporate design of the Federal Committee
Target-group-specific course structures and navigation
Automated testing, feedback, and certificate generation
Role-based editorial system for decentralized content maintenance
GDPR-compliant hosting in a certified data center
Integration of efficient reporting features for transparent evaluation of course and usage statistics
Optimization for mobile device use
The outcome is a low-maintenance, modularly expandable platform that can flexibly adapt to future requirements – such as integrating new product groups or connecting to other systems.
The result: A future-proof digital learning platform for industry-specific qualification.
With the 2024 relaunch, Customer Expert offers a modern, closed learning platform tailored to the needs of the building materials, hardware, household goods, timber, and sales sectors. Structured self-registration, validated content, and a consistent certification system make the platform a powerful tool for professional qualification in the retail environment.
From strategy and migration to technical implementation, think modular accompanied the project as a reliable partner for custom Moodle-based e-learning solutions.
The collaboration with think modular worked very well from the very beginning and was implemented to our complete satisfaction. It was important for us to have a professional partner for a long-term collaboration, who could expertly prepare our content and make it accessible for trainees. think modular achieved this ideally.
